
Andreas Krecher began instruction in violin at the age of six and won several „Jugend musiziert“ national youth competition prizes. After studies under Prof. Herman Krebbers in Düsseldorf and Prof. Rainer Kussmaul in Freiburg, he studied for a year under Prof. Franco Gulli in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1986 he was a prizewinner at the international Paganini Competition in Genoa, Italy.
Krecher was the concertmaster in the Robert Schumann Chamber Orchestra, German Bach Solists, Freiburg Bach Ochestra, and Cologne Chamber Orchestra. From 1990 to 1996 he served as the concertmaster in renowned German symphony orchestras.
Krecher was appointed to a professorship at the Robert Schumann Academy in Düsseldorf in 1997. He is also the first violinist of the Consortium Classicum and Mannheim String Quartet and concertizes as a solist and chamber musician in Europe, Japan, and the United States and at festivals including the Ludwigsburg Festival, Berlin Festival Weeks, and Schleswig-Holstein Festival
